NHS Free Eye Tests

Free eye tests for eligible patients

Many people are entitled to a free NHS sight test, and we’re here to help you check your eligibility.

You can receive a free NHS eye test if you:

Are under 16, or 16–18 and in full-time education
Are 60 or over
Are registered blind or partially sighted
Have diabetes or glaucoma
Are 40 or over with a family history of glaucoma
Have been advised by an ophthalmologist that you’re at risk of glaucoma
Are on leave from prison
Receive certain income-based benefits or hold a valid HC2 certificate

If you qualify, your test will include a full vision assessment and detailed eye health check carried out by our experienced optometrists.

NHS Free Glasses

Help towards the cost of glasses

If you’re entitled to NHS support, you may also qualify for an optical voucher to help with the cost of glasses or contact lenses.

You could be eligible if you:

Are under 16, or 16–18 in full-time education
Hold a valid HC2 or HC3 certificate
Receive qualifying income-based benefits or tax credits
Are eligible for a complex lens voucher

Our team will guide you through the process, help you choose frames that suit your style and prescription, and ensure your NHS voucher is applied correctly.

Private Eye Examinations

Detailed checks for total eye health

Our private eye tests go beyond the basics. Every appointment includes a comprehensive vision assessment and an in-depth health check using advanced digital technology.

Your examination will include:

A detailed vision test and prescription check
Digital retinal photography of the back of the eye (included free)
Eye pressure and glaucoma screening
Peripheral vision assessment
Additional tests tailored to your age and needs

These tests help detect early signs of cataracts, macular degeneration, and other conditions long before symptoms appear - giving you peace of mind and a complete picture of your eye health.

NHS Community Urgent Eyecare Services (CUES)

Fast care for sudden eye issues

We are accredited to provide NHS Community Urgent Eyecare (CUES) - a service offering same-day assessment and treatment for urgent eye problems such as:

Red or painful eyes or eyelids
New flashes, floaters, or vision loss
Foreign body in the eye

This service is free for patients registered with a local GP in participating areas.
Children under 16 must attend with an adult.
